1. About MelaLocal

MelaLocal is an online marketplace that connects people in Malta with local service providers, vehicle sellers and property listers. We provide the platform — we are not a service provider, vehicle dealer, estate agent or seller ourselves and do not employ or endorse any listed provider or seller.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using melalocal.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform. We may update these terms at any time, and continued use constitutes acceptance of changes.

3. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • One person may not maintain multiple accounts.

4. For Service Providers

If you list a service on MelaLocal, you agree that:

  • All information in your listing is accurate and not misleading.
  • You hold any licences or permits required for your services in Malta.
  • You are solely responsible for the quality and delivery of your services.
  • You will respond to customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Your phone number may be shared with customers who request it.
  • We may review, approve, reject, or remove listings at our discretion.

5. For Vehicle Sellers

If you list a vehicle for sale on MelaLocal, you agree that:

  • All vehicle information must be accurate, including make, model, year, mileage, price, and condition.
  • Photos must be of the actual vehicle being sold.
  • You must be the legal owner of the vehicle or authorised to sell it on the owner's behalf.
  • You will remove or update your listing once the vehicle is sold or no longer available.
  • We may review, approve, reject, or remove vehicle listings at our discretion.

6. For Property Listers

If you list a property to rent or sell on MelaLocal, you agree that:

  • All property information must be accurate, including price, letting term, size, bedrooms, location and condition.
  • Photos must be of the actual property being advertised.
  • You must be the owner, or an agent authorised to advertise it on the owner's behalf.
  • You will remove or update your listing once the property is let, sold or no longer available.
  • Agents and agencies must not advertise properties they have no mandate to market.
  • We may review, approve, reject, or remove property listings at our discretion.

7. For Customers & Buyers

If you use MelaLocal to find services or purchase vehicles, you agree that:

  • MelaLocal is a directory and marketplace — we do not guarantee the quality of any listed service or vehicle.
  • You are responsible for vetting providers and sellers before engaging with them.
  • Any contract, agreement, or vehicle transaction is directly between you and the service provider or seller.
  • For vehicle purchases, you are responsible for inspecting the vehicle and verifying its condition, history, and legal status before buying.
  • Reviews must be honest, fair, and based on genuine experience.
  • You will not misuse provider or seller contact information (e.g. spam, harassment).

8. Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings or reviews.
  • Harass, abuse, or threaten other users.
  • Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the platform without permission.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts or systems.
  • Use the platform for any illegal activity.
  • Upload malicious content, viruses, or harmful files.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

9. Reviews

  • Reviews can only be left after contacting a provider through the platform.
  • Reviews must reflect genuine experience.
  • We may remove reviews that are abusive, fake, or violate these terms.
  • Providers may not offer incentives for positive reviews.

10. Intellectual Property

The MelaLocal name, logo, and website design are our property. Content you submit (listings, reviews, images) remains yours, but you grant us a licence to display it on the platform. You must not upload content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights.

11. Limitation of Liability

MelaLocal is provided "as is". We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that the platform will be error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any disputes between customers and providers, or between vehicle buyers and sellers.
  • We are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from services booked or vehicles purchased through the platform.
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us (if any).

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malta. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Maltese courts.
